Ever see an INIT called “NVwl”? If not, it’s a little INIT that disables the vowel keys. (i.e. When you type an “a” or any other vowel, it does not get registered by the computer, so it seems as if the vowel keys are “dead.”) This is *great* for schools and stuff, or a practical joke on another person. But, if the System Folder is opened up, there it is, easy to throw away.
No Vowels II is comprised of two programs that install and remove the “NVwl” INIT from the System file. Because it is in the System *file* and not the System *Folder*, you cannot spot it, even with a program that can see hidden files.
No Vowels II is *extremely* easy to install. It was designed to be like that, so you can quickly install it on somebody’s Mac in a matter of seconds. Detailed instructions:
*Prior to sneaking NV2 on somebody’s system*
1) Format a disk
2) Copy the No Vowels II and Yes Vowels II applications onto it.
*At the victim’s Mac.*
1) Pop in your disk
2) Double click on the “No Vowels II” application.
3) Throw the disk into the trash to eject it and remove it from the desktop.
4) Leave, chuckling.
The next time the user starts the Mac (such as choosing “Restart” from the Special menu) The NVwl INIT will activate, rendering the vowel keys useless.
The NV2 application will simply run, copy a few resources into the currently active System file, and then quit. No dialogs or anything else.
*WARNING* Use this at your own risk. I’m not responsible for any people you may get severely angry. If somebody starts saying that they’re going to reformat their hard drive or something, be cool. Say something like “Hmm...I heard of a rare keyboard problem on the USENET...I downloaded this program that fixes it.” Pop in a disk with the “Yes Vowels II” application on it, and run it. Restart, and all will be fine.
Several resources from “NVwl,” a system extension which disables the vowel keys, are incorporated into this program. NVwl, part of the “Annoyance Pack,” was written by Shane D. Looker.
Primarily because most of this program IS the NVwl INIT, it is freeware. However, it would be nice if you could send me a letter, EMail or otherwise, if you use No Vowels II. My address is:

Also, feel free to send me suggestions on this program, any other program that I actually wrote, or ideas for future programs to one of the addresses at the end of this file. Thanks.
If you are interested in the Think C source code for the No Vowels II *installer*, please leave me mail and we can work something out.
